"Somos la semilla del saber pedagógico"

DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE

The English subject at the Escuela Normal Superior de Saboyá aims to foster the development of communicative competencies in a foreign language among students. This includes skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking while integrating ethical and social values. From preschool to complementary training, the area seeks to prepare global citizens by promoting interdisciplinarity and meaningful learning that contributes to the development of a community with an international outlook. This curriculum plan aligns with the requirements of the Ministry of National Education and is based on modern pedagogical approaches such as the social constructivist model. Additionally, it is articulated with the Institutional Educational Project, strengthening the integration of educational levels. The implementation of a communicative approach allows students to learn the language in practical contexts, applying it in everyday and academic situations while reinforcing values of coexistence and peacebuilding. Learning English is not only presented as an instrumental tool but also as an opportunity to open doors to knowledge, interculturality, and personal development. This comprehensive approach aims for students to not only master the language for professional or academic purposes but also to broaden their cultural horizons and enhance their cognitive skills, contributing to their holistic development and active participation in a globalized society.

Partnership Between Escuela Normal Superior of Saboyá and Universidad El Bosque: Enhancing Bilingual Education

The Escuela Normal Superior de Saboyá has established an agreement with Universidad El Bosque in the field of Bilingualism. As part of this partnership, students from Universidad El Bosque undertake an internship at Escuela Normal Superior del municipio de Saboyá. During one semester, they engage in a pedagogical practice experience across different campuses of the institution, where they apply their university learning in rural settings, allowing them to bring their expertise in bilingual education to more remote areas of the municipality. This collaboration not only facilitates a unique exchange of knowledge and practices, but it also provides a valuable opportunity for the students to learn from the context of rural education and apply their skills in teaching English in diverse educational environments. Furthermore, graduates from Escuela Normal Superior de Saboyá can pursue degrees in teaching at Universidad El Bosque, addressing the specific needs of each student under this agreement. In addition, the university’s interns carry out a research project within the institution’s campuses, focusing on the teaching and learning of English. The outcome of this research will contribute to the completion of a research article, serving as a significant milestone in their academic journey.
